Our School

We are located in sunny San Tan Valley, Arizona, and we are the middle school for the J.O. Combs Unified School District, serving approximately 1000 students. A great example of what we are striving for is evident by the CMS School Pledge. Every day, along with the Pledge of Allegiance and moment of silence, our students recite the school pledge:

"Today I will do more than I have to do, I will treat others as I want to be treated, and I will try to become a better person."

This simple and clear pledge helps reinforce our overall goal for our students.

Mission

Combs Middle School creates motivated life-long learners and socially responsible individuals.

Vision

The desire within the middle school community is for students to connect with one another, with their teachers, and with the content that they are learning remembering to always do so with character.

Social and Emotional Learning

Mindfulness curriculum through the Mindful Schools program will be taught to all CMS students by trained CMS counselors and social workers. Mindfulness lessons are aimed at benefiting students in the following areas: improved attention, emotion regulation, behavior in school, empathy and understanding of others, social skills, test anxiety, and stress. Mindfulness helps students learn to take a pause when they feel upset or overwhelmed, during which thoughtful responses can replace impulsive reactions.
